Veronica’s Wish is a Ugandan award winning English language drama film starring Nisha Kalema as Veronica, Housen Mushema as Michael, Malaika Nnyanzi as Bankia  and Symon Base Kalema as Frank premiered in Uganda on 17 November 2018.

Veronica’s Wish evolves around Michael and Veronica, a couple in love and engaged to about to get married face challenges when Veronica gets hit by mysterious illness a few days to their wedding.

The movie has an excellent cast with Nisha Kalema as the lead actress, Housen Mushema as Michael, Malaika Nnyanzi as Bankia who is Veronica’s best friend and Frank’s (Symon Base Kalema) girlfriend but seemed to be in constant disagreement but show affection to each other as the movie comes to the end.

When hit by the mysterious life threatening illness, Veronica’s simple and amazing life takes a serious toll on her love life as she must choose between love and saving her life, a story easily relatable to the public and it was perfectly visualised as it showed how the life threatening battle was fought, won and eventually lost

Veronica’s Wish director Nanfuka Rehema, who has worked on movies like Haunted Souls, Queen of Katwe kept the movie in sync with comfort, simplicity just as the story hence a brillant screenplay Veronica’s Wish put to the eyes.

Cinematography, editing, coloring and a great visual quality by Ireeta Alex, surely made Veronica’s Wish the standout movie in Uganda and even East Africa.

After the week of premiering and screening in Kampala, the film received 11 nominations at the Uganda Film Festival 2018 where it scooped 9 awards becoming the biggest winner of the night.
