2018 Amakula Master Class – Staging for Film

MASTER CLASS OUTLINE

The Master class will focus on staging a scene and concentrates on the interaction of movement of the actors and the camera to advance the visual storytelling. The objective of the workshop is creating awareness of visual storytelling beyond shot reverse shot.

WHO IS THE PROGRAM FOR?

The training is targeting Film Directors and Directors of Photography

REQUIREMENTS

The participants must commit to attending all hours of the Master Class and fully commit to actively participating in all the session. The participants must be able to cover their own travel/ transport expenses, meals and accommodation.

DURATION

The training will take place on the 14th March 2018. The Master Class will run from (2.00 pm – 5.00pm). Participants are required to fully commit to the attending all the sessions.

VENUE

The Master Class will take place at the Kampala Film School – Film Studio / Lecture Room

TUTOR

TOM SCHREIBER

TOM SCHREIBER studied at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne and the EICTV in Havanna / Cuba. He graduated in 1999 with the award-winning shorts “ Viene del Cielo“ and  “Vita Reducta“. His first feature “Fools“ premiered at the Berlinale 2003 and was nominated for “Best New Director“ at the German TV-film festival in 2004. In 2008 his second feature “Dr Alemán“ premiered in competition at the Karlovy Vary int. Film Festival. The film was shown at more than 30 international festivals and awarded several times. In 2006 he co-founded the production company 58FILME, which he sees as a platform for young filmmakers with the bravery of failure. The company lists films like “Portrait of German Alcoholics“ by Carolin Schmitz, (Berlinale 2010), „Maison“ by Augustin Rebetez (Sydney Biennale 2014) and “The Roommaid Lynn“ by Ingo Heab (FIPRESCI Price Montreal 2015). In 2014 he was appointed professor for film at the RheinMain University in Wiesbaden. He currently works on the two feature films „Beautiful Souls“ and „El Enterno Retorno“.Tom Schreiber lives with his family in Cologne (Germany) .

FEES

There is no entry fee for the Master Class however the participants will be required to cover their accommodation, transportation and meals.
